Information on Upgrading the Brakes in Your Classic Car

Here is our certified auto mechanic, Chris, talking about this 1970 Chevy Camaro. (Yes we are apparently Camaro experts now, TELL YOUR FRIENDS!) This golden classic was purchased at the Hot August Nights auction. Customer brought it in for us to inspect after purchase (Just another reminder we do offer FREE pre-purchase inspections, just saying).

Initially the customer wanted us to upgrade their brakes to power brakes. As we discussed in the last blog if you feel like you literally have to stand on the brakes to get your car to stop, upgrading to power brakes might be something to think about.

Since the car was already here the owner also decided to have us take a look at the carburetor and give it a quick tune up. The quick tune up turned into a transmission kick down adjustment/shift point adjustment (adjusts how far you have to press the gas pedal down before you go/shift gears). This can be very helpful while driving especially merging on the freeway. Who hasn’t pushed the pedal all the way and then waited that half second to 5 seconds before the car goes? This adjustment will help with that. For more information check out this detailed video below.
